our program cooperates with these centres and coordinates the whole voluntary process as a non-formal learning education with cooperation of the hosting placements.

Lepší svet /Bratislava/ (Better life) provides a wide scale of social services for 34 adults that have a middle or hard form of mentally handicap. The social service pursues rehabilitation where the centre wants to activate inner abilities of their clients. The daily activities focus on working rehabilitation. In the morning the clients work in five workshops:  ceramic, textile, art, painting on the glass and mixed (open activities according needs). In the afternoon they have various relaxed program. They are offered also to work and help in the garden.  The centre runs also an assisted housing for its 12 clients where they can learn how to live independently and caff for visitors to drink coffee or tee and to see some products of the centre. The main aim of the centre is an integration of the clients into the major society as much as it is possible. Bilingvalne gymnazium C. S. Lewis /Bratislava/ provides an alternative to the public state schooling. The mission of the school is development of the potential of every student; guidance of students think creatively and critically; working in team; respecting each other; communication in an international environment and openness to life-long education. The gymnasium educates and leads students towards responsibility, honesty and self-sustainability in the spirit of Christian biblical values. The school provides a 5 year bilingual program of English language, has 5 grades and 2 classes in each. The accent on foreign languages studies means that beside an intense English study there is also a possibility to learn Spanish and German. The students are at age of 15 to 19. C.S. Lewis cooperates closely with the elementary school Narnia where also space for work with children at age 6-14. Besides a regular school process there are also free time activities. Betania Bratislava n.o. /Bratislava/  is an activation geriatric centre that provides a 24-hour care to old and immobile persons who are dependant on a direct help of the other person. The centre provides a health and social care with 22 beds. Some are assigned for all-year temporary nursing care and some for the long term pensioner’s home. Experienced nurses execute the social service at the high professional level and tactfully help those who, due to their high age or aggravated health condition, have found themselves in difficult situations. The clients are provided with a comprehensive, continuous medical, social and Christian orientated care; community rehabilitation; health-pedagogic and spiritual-pastoral care and social prevention as well as the guidance during the everyday activities. The centre endeavours to create a pleasant family type environment where staff allows residents to spend the rest of its clients life with a dignity, providing them an acceptance, love, sensitive care, understanding and security. For a support of the self-reliance and independence the centre uses an active therapy, artetherapy, bibliotherapy, music therapy and psychomotor therapy and other incentive program.  (2 volunteers/11 months) minimum requirement EN language (intermediate), (open for any European country)GE, HU language or RUS is welcomed.

Betania Senec n.o. - provides continuous social welfare service for 12 clients who stay in a shelter house year-round and 6 clients that use our workshops daily and fell safely and protected. It executes its activity as a shelter home of social services for mentally handicapped adult persons. The main aim of the project is to bring a new alternative in the life of handicapped people, while respecting her/his specific characteristics and allowing the client to independently decide on the life around her/him. The professional staff tactfully guides the clients and provides them with comprehensive, Christian-oriented care in a pleasant, friendly atmosphere. (1 volunteer/11 months) minimum requirement EN language (intermediate), (open for any European country).

Land of Harmony foundation /Zilina/ is a daily centre. Its main goal is an integration of persons with disability into community life in different areas - education, work and living condition - mostly leisure time activities. Organizes regularly club meetings for young people with and without disabilities, offers them PC training, English lessons (open for other language GE), cooking, ceramic, sports, theatre, music, handicrafts and discussion meetings. Every year organizes weekends in the mountain with specific programme - Living as Eskimos, Skiing in the hills. For 20 years organizes an international festival of creativity and fantasy Jollieworkshop. Apart from one regular project manager, 2 part time workers there are about 20 volunteers. (2 volunteers/12 months) minimum requirement EN language (intermediate), preferable male volunteers from Germany.

Comenius University, Faculty of Natural Sciences /Bratislava/ - The emphasis is on work with young people - the students of our Faculty. The volunteers can work in our self access centre, where students not only borrow books but also spend their leisure time. The volunteers might have the role of consultants and assist students with language tasks – depending on mother tongue of the volunteer. Faculty starts several clubs of interest, e.g. a film club, an intercultural club and/or a discussion club. The film club would enable the volunteers to present movies from their country of origin, and each watching would be followed by a discussion about lifestyle, culture, customs and traditions. The intercultural club could become a forum for interesting discussions on intercultural topics. The objective of the literary club would be reading and analyzing short stories, poems and novels by German, English and Slovak writers. Discussion club offers an opportunity for students to formulate their own opinions in a foreign language, i.e. in mother tongue of the volunteer. Depending on their capabilities, the volunteers can be personally involved in developing additional free-time activities with the support of our department. The volunteers are also expected to be assistant teachers of their native tongue under the supervision of an experienced department teacher. (1 volunteer/11 months) minimum requirement EN language (intermediate),  volunteers from Germany/France/Italy or with EN language advanced or French, Spanish language advanced).

Ulita /Bratislava/ - is the centre working with children and young people from neglected urban neighbourhood through free-time, educational and counselling activities. Volunteers take also a part in various activities working with experienced coordinators. The centre provides free time activities, counselling and education, reacts on children‘s and young people‘s needs. Neighbourhood residents are also involved into the community activities and keeps care of the public space.  Street-work and club activities in the Community Centre are built on low-threshold principles and individual approach to the clients and their needs in actual life situation. The regular activities are: outreach work in the neighbourhood, sport, educational program and club activities for different age groups. The activity is 3 or 4 times per week in the late afternoon. Rest of the time the volunteer is working with other optional centre (working with kids, seniors or mentally disabled) This placement is  (1 volunteer/11 months) minimum requirement EN language (intermediate), (open for any European country)

Milované dieťa (Loved Child) /Bratislava/ provides educational activities targeting kids in age 6 - 10, parents, educators and community. On daily, regularly basis provides support in the area of educating children. It educates kids in smaller groups and uses innovative education approaches. The educational centre provides also free time and sport activities. The volunteer participates in our program by leading short morning creative activities where he/she motivates children and develops their fine motor skills and abilities. Presence of the volunteer grants an opportunity to work with every child in more specific way in order to develop his/her true potential. Also her/his presence gives to the children a sense of international acceptance, cultural understanding, positive example and an opportunity to communicate in English language. The volunteer has a chance to see and experience non formal, but excellent education of children. During these activities the volunteer can develop and get some new skills. ECCSR /Bratislava/ as an umbrella organization with its 12 member has diverse activities thanks to its programs and working groups. Member churches offer to the volunteers various activities in its members´ movement. The volunteers will be also helping the coordinator of the volunteer program. (3 volunteers/11 months).

1st volunteer - assistance and help for foreign departments at the foreign department of the General bishop office of the Lutheran church in Slovakia; with combination of free time activities with kids or assistance at the activation geriatric centre cooperating with the Lutheran or Baptist church or kindergarten. Minimum requirement EN language (intermediate), 1  volunteer from Germany.

2nd and 3rd volunteer – cooperating with the churches and social centres that provide free time activities for youth, teenagers and kids (from streets); work with elderly in senior house; work with children at risk; work with mentally disabled centres) etc. Assistance in these activities. Minimum requirement EN language (intermediate)volunteer with some experience from the church life /activities/is welcomed;  from any country.

Other possible activities for all the volunteers:  work with homeless (need some Slovak language, university or other activities running in the churches in Bratislava

Relevant n.o. Presov - is focused on connecting people of different backgrounds and ages. The organization creates an environment in which people can relate to each other on the grounds of Christian faith and principles. Helps those in need and support the ones who try to help others.
The volunteers can choose to be involved in one of its social services including:

    - work with children and youth in the PUZZLE clubroom, organization of meetings, trips, summer camps and educational events. The volunteers can help with tutoring and school preparation for German or English classes or even give their own language lessons. They can run creative workshops or clubs depending on their talents and preferences (e.g. sports, dance, music, drama, arts, photography clubs, etc.). They can participate in free-time activities within the clubroom (playing board games, darts, table football, engage in discussions, workshops, movie screenings, concerts, etc.)  and get involved in planning and organizing new events;
    - work with foster home leavers in the NEST halfway house, helping them with their everyday problems, organizing work therapy sessions, free-time activities and providing personal and spiritual support. Both individual work and group activities are encouraged. The volunteers might run creative workshops, organize trips and sporting events and help the girls present and sell their products;
    - work with the NEST clients in the creative workshop of the social enterprise, helping them acquire practical skills relevant to their future jobs, producing soaps and candles, crafting jewelry, creating T-shirt designs and helping with the printing, cutting, preparation and delivery of final products of the printing press;
    - work with the elderly within the home care and visiting service, providing practical help in the household, spending free time with the elderly and accompanying them to social and cultural events to prevent their isolation.
(2 volunteers/12 months) The volunteers will work in the church so they need to respect Christian values. The volunteers involved in church activities are very welcomed minimum requirement EN language (intermediate), volunteer from Germany is welcomed and 1 with EN language advanced.

Dom RAFAEL Bratislava is a new founded centre. It is a non-profit organization organized in newly built 3-level building providing both health and social care for seriously and chronically ill, for people with mental and physical disabilities and their families. The centre is situated in calm and pleasant surrounding of a park, yet easily accessible by car or public transport.  Dom Rafael offers 4 main services under one roof- Hospice, Nursing home, Special care for people with Alzheimer's and Parkinson and on top of it Social care for adolescents with disabilities and special needs. This is provided with comprehensive care in a pleasant atmosphere by the professional multidisciplinary team composed of doctors, nurses, rehabilitation workers, specialized pedagogues and social workers. The capacity of the centre is all year accommodation for 40 persons and daily stay for 20 persons. The centre also focuses on sheltered workshops- bakery and coffee shop. In addition it's organizing different kind of daily activities for their clients - e.g. music therapy, art therapy, ergo therapy, physiotherapy and many others in order to bring a new alternative into the life of the handicapped people while respecting their specific characteristics and allowing them to decide independently and to participate actively. They create tasteful products with decorative and utility character, while staff is keen on broadening knowledge of the clients and on the development of their mental skills.  A variety of clients of different age and life situations are staying in Dom RAFAEL, that's why the establishment's main essence is orientation towards family atmosphere and warm environment. Additionally, Dom RAFAEL offers spiritual, psychological and consultative support for clients and their families. The centre is located in a very attractive area of the capital city – surrounded by Lesopark Petrzalka (Citypark Petrzalka).
The volunteers will be important part of our team, working under professional guidance of our social workers and therapists. Own ideas and initiatives are very much appreciated. Typical tasks and activities of our volunteers would be:
    - Possibility to work and support disabled people during the therapies (ergo therapy, music therapy etc.),
     -Accompany and help elderly and seriously ill with their daily routine; arranges leisure time activities and events, being supportive with open heart and soul, being open to priceless conversations with people who usually overcame or are suffering after difficult accidents/ illnesses.
    - Support people in development of their individual skills through the workshops (producing the objects from wood, paper or cloth which could be sold as presents for special occasions)
    - Organize the presentation of the products made in the workshops and accompanying the clients while selling the products. Dom RAFAEL participates for example on Christmas markets while selling products made during workshops by disabled people.
    - Assist the handicapped with different activities that develop their independence and social integration in the society e.g. shopping, swimming pool, physical activities, cultural and social events
    - Help disabled people with daily tasks in sheltered workshops – helping in the bakery or coffee shop
    - As Dom RAFAEL is in municipal park available also for public, volunteers will be involved in revitalizing the surrounding environment of the Dom RAFAEL complex – e.g. gardening activities, planting flowers and trees, watering plants.
    - Team meetings – the volunteer is integrated in regular meetings of the staff and in the process of decision making of the activities done by her/him.

The Deutsch-Slowakische Begegnungsschule Bratislava is a private school with kindergarten. The parents have a special expectation in the work and success of the education. The school enrols about 70 children in four groups in the Kindergarten (age 3-6) and elementary school class 1-4 and gymnasium 5-8 class. Altogether about 25 full-time teachers are working with the children. Beside the normal school program, DSB offers day care and is open from Monday till Friday from 7.30 am till 5.30 pm, which means, that many children attend the school the whole day and have to be looked after and also lost of various free time activities. 80% of the children are Slovak, 20% of the kids are German native speakers. The aim of the school is the German Abitur (Matura). The school grow each year with at least one more class. The study programme is provided in German and Slovak language. (2 volunteers/11 months) minimum requirement EN language (intermediate),  volunteers only from Germany. Non EVS placement!
